January 2011 - Shopping: Kawaii

So what is "Kawaii". It is literally translated as "lovability", "cuteness" or "adorableness". Since the 1970s it has become a prominent aspect of Japanese popular culture, entertainment, clothing, food, toys, personal appearance, behavior, and mannerisms. (Do you see "Hello Kitty" in the wedding gown?)

Some of these elements can be seen in the following:
1.Pikachu, a character from Pokémon, adorns the side of three All Nippon Airways passenger jets.
2. All 47 prefectures have cute mascot characters
3. Sanrio, the company behind Hello Kitty and other similarly cute characters run the Sanrio Puroland theme park in Tokyo.
4. Cute can be also used to describe a specific fashion sense[8][9] of an individual, and generally includes clothing that appears to be made for young children, apart from the size, or clothing that accentuates the cuteness of the individual wearing the clothing. Ruffles and pastel colors are commonly (but not always) featured, and accessories often include toys or bags featuring anime characters. See Japanese Street Fashion.

This is the link to "All Things Kawaii". There are over 500 sites listed here.

Some of my favorites:
acrylicana - Artists web site of cute illustrations and art. She sells handmade jewelry, accessories and more. I love her necklaces.

Poupee girl - create a fashionable avatar and post photos of clothes and accessories to share with others.

My Asian Fashion - A whole community for those who love Asian fashion

pixel girl presents - All sort of pretty icons and images to use on your desktop and mobile phone. Iphone images for us girly girls!

Another fun thing to do is to google "Kawaii TV". the program covers everything from fashion to culture in Tokyo. There are lots of segments available online

January 2011 - Girlfriends and Facebook

I was a late adopter to Facebook (and that is usually not the case), But I am soooooo happy that I decided to take the plunge. Facebook makes it so easy to stay in touch and be connected. Who would have ever thought that something could replace email!

I now have over 100 friends. Not that I measure myself by the number of friends I have. I try to limit my friends to people I know and interact with. Most of my friends are local or others I have met. A few are those that I have common interests with and hope to meet sometime in the future.

Girlfriends are much cheaper than therapists and a whole lot more fun.
A girlfriend knows your deep dark secrets, but likes you anyway.
Girlfriends are no farther away than the phone, even if it's 4 am in the morning.
A good girlfriend is hard to find, impossible to replace and never forgotten.

I love my girlfriends and would do most anything to help them in time of need. Will share more next month.

January 2011 - Pretty Little Things (cupcakes)

I love all sort of pretty little things. Whether they be sparkly jewelry, housewares, art, food, fashions, makeup or just whatever gets my attention at the moment. This is a cute site, called allprettylittlethings, that might give you an idea of what i am writing about.

The topic for this post is cupcakes. I just adore cute little cupcakes. Baking and decorating them. Enjoying how cute they look and, yes, eating them. So much more enjoyable that a large cake which tends to overwhelm me.

So let's start simple with a basic recipe and instructions on how to make cupcakes!

You must find time to tune into Cupcake Wars on the Food Channel - Tuesdays at 9 PM Eastern. Check out this fun video from the show about Sweet E's Bake Shop in LA

It is amazing how many cupcake blogs are available on the internet. Cupcakes Take The Cake is one of the best!
See 10 favorite cupcake blogs!

My favorite cupcakes are Red Velvet! Everything else may look cute but just does not taste the same!

Lastly, here are the 5 best cupcakes in Atlanta as per the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. One of my favorites is Butter Sweet Bakery especially for their Red Velvet Cupcakes. To quote a review "Their Red velvet cupcake is the moistest, reddest, most luscious version of this Southern favorite ever."

January 2011 - Men and Dating

One of the topics I have never blogged about is men and dating. I have always felt that that is much too personal. Plus I am not an expert on the topic. There are many other women to look to for advice. But I do have some personal perspectives and experiences to share so here goes.

Speaking of advice, check out Mimi Tanner. She has a blog and an email column that you can subscribe to. She has a lot of great perspective and advice. Some definitely worth considering. Also, many other resources that are worth reading. Like Flirting with Men and Hard to Get. Not everything works for every woman. But lots of advice worth considering.

One of the reasons I posted this photo of me in the black mini was to make a specific point. This is one of the photos on my web site that gets the most reaction. The comments range from "gorgeous legs" to "cute ass" to "sexy heels" to "I want to have sex with you" and many variations of the last comment (as you can imagine).

Yes, I have been told, by both men and women, that when a girl dresses provocatively (Adj: Tending or serving to provoke; inciting, stimulating, alluring, or tantalizing) that those are the responses she will get. Even more specifically the type of pose, the stiletto heels, the mini skirt and revealing cleavage all send a specific message to a man. Understood. No need to further explain.

There is also the fact that when a man finds a woman attractive the chemical reaction (his hormones) get him all excited and he fantasizes about having sex with her. It's very natural. Nothing disgusting about this. Very complimentary. I understand this and accept it for what it is. We know well what a man desires. But so many guys don't get it that it is such a turn-off for a woman to be treated as a slut from the get go. Trying to start a relationship with me by saying that you want to want to f**k me is the surest way to end any possibility of that happening. Guys, there are women who specialize in that endeavor if that is all you are looking for.

Now there is one man that I find so incredibly exciting.... Well, need I say more? Here he is...

January 2011 - Girly Girl: Stockings

To set the record straight I prefer stockings and garters to pantyhose under most all circumstances. I do wear pantyhose on occasion but mostly when I am wearing a very short skirt. Stockings are definitely more fashionable, feel sexier and, frankly, most guys will tell you that stockings are so much more attractive. Quite the turn-on for them. Go ahead and ask! Girly girls prefer stockings.

There are some challenges with wearing stockings but well worth the effort. If you're wearing stockings and garters as a part of an everyday wear, the best way to look presentable in public is to wear them with a dress or skirt that falls just above your knee. Make sure that the skirt or dress is long enough to avoid letting the top band show when sitting down. However, if you're wearing stockings for parties and pleasure, you can get more creative and daring! For a sexy yet tasteful look wear a slightly shorter hemline than what you usually do so that if you cross your legs it will reveal some stocking top and skin.
Pull the garter belt up to your hips. Adjust the straps so the front straps are 2 inches shorter than the back straps and 1 inch shorter than the straps on the sides. It causes a little pull in the front of the stockings, but prevents them from showing when you sit down. Remember that panties go on OVER the stockings.

Secrets In Lace in the premier place for fashion stockings! That's where I go to shop (or tell my admirers about). It offers classic and high quality 100% nylon stockings. They're the world's leading supplier in elegant, tasteful yet sexy lingerie. You might want to take a look at their exclusive collections by Dita Von Teese and Bettie Page. Indulge in their large selection of stockings, from Full Fashion French Heel to Vintage-looking backseams! Lots of great styles from Sheer Heel and Toe, Reinforced Heel and Toe, Full Fashion Euro Heel and Full Fashion French Heel.

Henry & June have a wide selection of low-priced sexy and daring stockings, from fishnets, lace to bows.

Pierre Silber is another option. Very sexy stockings!
Also, Victorias Secrets

January 2011 - Rococo Fashion and High Tea

Last January I organized a fabulous meetup at the Atlanta Four Seasons hotel for Afternoon Tea. We had about 25 girls attending. The food was wonderful and yummy. We all had a great time socializing at such a classy and elegant place.

Near the end of January 2011 we are planning the same event. It looks like we might have nearly 40 girls attending this formal event of the season. The theme is Rococo. Halley and I are working on a Rococo gown for me. It will be very similar to the beautiful Rococo gown above. The bodice will be black velvet with a sweetheart neckline. The skirt will look similar but the colors will be green with black vertical stripes. The fabric is pure silk.
I will also wear a gorgeous blonde Rococo wig with large French Curls. You can be sure that I will have lots of wonderful photos of the gorgeous gown and share all the details. Some details about Rococo.

The Rococo style of art emerged in France in the early 18th century. It is characterized by opulence, grace, playfulness, and lightness in contrast to the heavier themes and darker colors of the earlier Baroque period.
The word Rococo was apparently a combination of the French rocaille, or shell, and the Italian barocco, or Baroque style. Because of Rococo love of shell-like curves and focus on decorative arts, some critics used the term to derogatively imply that the style was frivolous or merely fashion. Since the mid 19th century, though, the term has been accepted by art historians. While there is still some debate about the art historical significance of the style, rococo is now widely recognized as a major period in the development of European art.
