Japanese Fashion Trends in 2014

Time to discuss what the experts see as Japanese Street Fashion trends in 2014.
I've been taking the time to look thru all the blogs and discuss this with my fashionable girlfriends. Here are the ones that I personally agree with (for whatever THAT is worth).

Please take the time to click on the links and read all of the posts. Lot of interesting perspectives from these talented, beautiful and amazing women. Also, I would strongly recommend subscribing to these blogs!

This photo is from the Jan 2014 Harajuku Fashion Walk.

CLASSIC STYLE WILL PREVAIL
Classic Lolita style will still be the most popular one among other sub styles. Moreover, sweet and Gothic style will be strongly influenced by a classic style. Sweet prints will be more calmed down and not as sweet as usual, and they will be much easier to coordinate in a classic style.

I see 2014 as the year the princess grew up. She’s putting aside her over the top, sweet frocks and becoming the elegant, extravagant queen.
MORE PAINTING PRINTS
Taobao and other Asian Lolita brands are now very popular and I think they will become a big competition for main Japanese brands. SS won't be needed like in 2013 and cheaper Lolita clothing will me more available for overseas customer.

MORE SUBSTYLES MIXED WITH LOLITA
Longer dresses will be coordinated with knitted scarfs, fake furs and cosy boots to give it a mori look, or perhaps aprons and over-and underskirts to give a coordinates a natural-kei vibe.

QI-LOLITA GAINING MORE INTEREST
This I've seen happen more and more on Tumblr blogs and no wonder, qi-lolita at its best is breathtakingly beautiful!

LACE
With the previous year's love of OTT Classic it will grow and morph even more. Whether adding it to a simple piece or soft lace opera gloves, I think we will be seeing new things for Loli's with lace.

FLORAL CORSAGES
This is something growing stronger in Lolita.

Flowers are in to stay in classic, and we are going to be seeing a lot more floral headpieces, and more interesting headpieces that can go a little more OTT when it comes to classic and gothic styles.

HEELS!
They're already pretty popular, but I think elegant heels will be a big thing. Fewer tea parties and clunky heels.

DROP IN SECOND HAND SALE PRICES
The market is pretty saturated right now, it’s easier than ever to get lolita clothing, and frankly, there is a lot of stuff that is similar, or just out of style.

ANGELIC PRETTY'S NEW CHANDELIER PRINT
Angelic Pretty will come out with another Chandelier print and this time there is going to be a matching battery run Head Dress, which you can light up, if you like to.

ECLECTIC AND VINTAGE INFLUENCE FROM CPK and DOLLY KEI
These will continue to increase as items in some of our wardrobes cross over better and multitask more economically if we follow more than one kind of related fashion style.

CHIFFON AND OTHER EXTRAS TO DRESSES
We've noticed a great uptick in brands using fancier chiffon fabrics and detailing on their dresses.

KAWAII IS DEAD! LONG LIVE THE OPULENT!
Now that Classic is more in the lime light, of course Lolitas are going to go all out with it.
